Episode Three
In episode three we are introduced to a new couple Anna and Cary Knecht who I immediately love. They are currently living a monogamist lifestyle which is how wife Anna likes it and wants it to continue. She says even though her parents were polygamist and that was the right choice for them it is not the right choice for her.
I loved the way her husband Cary quickly interjected that with that said, the door is not closed to taking on a second wife. As he makes the statement his wife sits at his side rolling her eyes. He states, again, if God tells him he should take a second wife and some young gal comes along - wait what? "Young gal?" He quickly corrects himself and says or either an older gal, he is open to the prospect.
Lets face it, he meant what he said the first time, he would like a nice young gal.
Anna explains that they keep a large cache of food and water for an event she says is predicted in the Bible where there will be a period of 3 1/2 years when there is no food or water and people have to live on what they have on hand. I am not sure where it says this in the Bible, Anna doesn't elaborate on the topic.
Also Cary's 16 year old daughter who likes a 17 year old boy who approaches the father and asks him if he can officially court his daughter. After making the boy sweat it out for a week finally tells him he can.
Meanwhile, Abel and his family struggle with whether or not to marry the two wives of his friend that passed away. He already has three wives and adding two more plus all the kids is a big step. Most likely he would marry both women at the same time so how does he decide who to spend the wedding night with? That would suck knowing your new husband would be spending your wedding night having sex with another woman. Who ever goes second is not going to be happy. Especially since the two wives have already admitted they have gotten into physical altercations in the past over their issues.
The Funeral
One of the strangest things I saw in the episode was at Abel's friends funeral. As the scene shows one of the mans wives along with their son embracing as they look at the body of the man laying in the casket, two women are taking pictures. Maybe its just a cultural thing, I don't know but I have been to many funerals and the last thing I would have ever thought about is taking pictures of the body and people mourning over it.
Next week we will see if Abel decided to marry his friends two wives and take on their children. One thing is for sure I will be tuned in to see what happens.
